Dr. Harold S. Alterowitz is recognized for his leadership as a coach and athletic director spanning 40 years. Known as "Shorty" to some, "Dr. A." to others, Alterowitz, during his tenure, was a track, tennis, golf and basketball coach; assistant football coach; and athletics director from 1952-1967. He has received numerous teaching awards and has been a frequent featured speaker at local, regional and national meetings. After his retirement he founded the EMC Forum for Excellence in 1986.
